Dear Winnie

I have received your letter and am pleased that everybody at home is in good health and doing well. The same as it leaves me at present.

I have seen those ships of paper before and I wish they would do something in but I am afraid they wont it is to big a job at present.

We have just commenced our winter campaign, have had continuous rain for three days up to our eyes in mud. Just imagine what a winter it would be, the farmers have just got their crops in and so it does not trouble them. I had a snapshot taken the other day which I have enclosed, my horse  is just rising four and wont stick much of the weather we re having at present. I am looking forward to … (next page is missing)
